CONGRATS CLASS OF 2025!
December marks the end of the school year in Guatemala, when we celebrate the Class of 2025 with special celebrations for our ten preschool graduates who are ready to start primary school, including:
🖍️ Bethzabeth, who used to spend her days at her mom’s work as a housekeeper, especially loved playing with peers and creating art
🩺 Angel, whose hospitalizations put a financial strain on his parents, received nutrition and medical attention which helped build his immune system
🎓 Samantha, whose cousin Jenny attended the Center 17 years ago and reached out this year tell us that she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education
The students celebrated with music, dancing, and a special visit from Santa with a gift for each child. With your support we also created canastas navideñas (Christmas gift baskets) for each family. This tradition ensures that our families have the basic food supplies that they might need to be able to celebrate Christmas together and sustain them through the break until the new school year begins mid-January.
As we approach the end of 2025, we find ourselves reflecting on the incredible growth and development of our students, the power of our community and the generosity you have shown us. Thanks to your continued support, encouragement and generosity, we’re able to offer real help to families. You’re the reason this is possible. The Acorn Childcare Center opened its doors nearly 20 years ago, sparked by a shared vision that every child deserves a strong start and a supportive community. What started as a small idea has grown into a beacon of hope for families facing extreme poverty, nurturing young lives, empowering families, and strengthening the community for two decades! As we celebrate this milestone, we honor all those who dreamed big, worked together, and made this legacy possible. We look ahead with the same spirit to build a brighter future for the next generation. Thank you!
